Used to / Would.

C. Read the sentences below and circle the correct word between brackets. If both words are possible, tick the sentences. 
1.    I (used to / would) get free milk at school when I was a boy.

Modals of ability.


E. Complete with can, can't, could, couldn't. If none is possible, use be able to in the correct tense.

H. Replace the underlined expressions with an appropriate idiom in the correct form. Make other changes if necessary. 
1.    Are there any people that you know very well? Why do you think it is?
2.    When you were at school, which subject did you think was very easy? Why was this?
3.    When travelling abroad, have you ever learned any foreign words by chance? Do you still remember them? What were they and what did they mean?
4.    Who normally helps you if you have problems doing your homework? Do you ever help anybody else with their homework?
5.    When you were at school, did you pay attention in class or did you behave in a silly way? What did your teachers say about your behaviour at school?
6.    Have you ever been a person who likes reading books a lot? Do you think children tend to be people who like reading books a lot these days?
7.    If you were in an exam and you had no idea of the answer, would you invent an answer without thinking about it too much? Have you done this often? Was it successful?
8.    Do you think it’s better to memorise things before an exam? Does it depend on the subject you are studying?
9.    What things would you like to study again in order to remember better? How could you do this?
10. How easy do you find it to start doing homework when you have it? How do you motivate yourself?
11. If you have no idea about how to say something in English when you are in class, what do you do? What would you do if you were in an English-speaking country?
12. Do you think a teacher’s favourite student is always one of the most intelligent people in the class? What other characteristics do teachers really like?

Today, we're going to revise the topics we've been working in Unit 8.
So, open your Workbook on page 60. On this page there are exercises you have to do so as to revise vocabulary related to change and cities, and the structure of Second Conditional sentences (exercises 1 to 4). 


On page 61, you have to work on exercises 5 and 6. In this exercises you are going to practice Conversational English and Reading comprehension. 


Then, you have to work on the following page (62), exercises 1 and 3. You'll revise some vocabulary and practice Conversational English, too. 


Finally, on page 63 you have to do exercises 4 to 7. In this case, you're going to practice some Grammar (Adverbs) and Reading comprehension.

1. LISTENING
Read the instruction in exercise 8. You have to click on this link (➡️audio) so as to listen to two people talking about the things that have changed since they were children. Answer the question. Then, listen again and complete exercise 9. 


2. SPEAKING
Carefully, read the instruction in exercise 10. Choose your position. Then, send me your opinions in a voice note (via Whatsapp 🗣). 


3. GRAMMAR
Before doing the exercise, read the grammar reference in your book (on page 117). You can also click on the following links for more theory about the uses of Adverbs:

2. VOCABULARY.
Now, we're going to work with vocabulary about Global Issues
Look at the picture in exercise 4 and answer the questions (Send me your answers ✉️).


Now, look at the following categories and the words in the box. Do you know what they mean? You can check in the dictionary if necessary (➡️Wordreference). After making sure you know their meanings, complete exercises 5 and 6.

1. GRAMMAR
We're going to start this lesson by revising some grammar. Do you remember Second Conditional sentences? OK, the idea is to revise all the rules about this topic. First of all, watch the video below. It's very clear! 


You can also revise the theory on the Reference page (117). 
Now, look at the Active Grammar box on page 107, read the instruction and complete the exercise. 


Complete exercises 5 and 6 on the same page. (Send your answers to exercise 6 via e-mail ✉️).

2. VOCABULARY. Words to describe cities.

4. WRITING
Now, you're going to write something about your town/city. Read the instruction in exercise 10 and the "How to...?" box. Make notes about the headings so as to write a short text about your town/city. Send your text via e-mail 🖂.

Today we're going to start working on Unit 8. Are you ready?
So, open your Student's book on page 105: Change

1. Look at the four pictures on that page and read the words/phrases in exercise 1. Match the phrases with the pictures. 


2. VOCABULARY. Read the instruction in exercise 2 and complete it. Remember that you can use the dictionary to help you understand new vocabulary (➡️Wordreference). 


 3. LISTENING. Complete exercise 3. Click on this link so as to listen and complete tasks a and b (➡️audio).  


Now, we're going to work on the following page, Unit 8.1: Changing the rules

4. Look at the pictures and read the title of the text. Do you know what the city in the pictures is?
Now, read the statements in exercise 1a and decide if they are True (T) or False (F). Then, READ the first part of the article and check your answers. 


After reading, complete exercise 2a and b. 

5. Read the questions in exercise 3a (Vocabulary and speaking). Answer those questions and send me your answers ✉️.


6. Check the meaning of the words in exercise 3b. (➡️Wordreference). After that, read the instruction in 3c carefully. Complete the task by answering the questions (and send me your answers ✉️).

1. SUBJECT AND OBJECT QUESTIONS. Look at the presentation we saw when we worked with this topic (➡️PowerPoint) in order to revise the theory about Subject and Object questions. Also, you can watched the video I've already shared about this topic. 


Complete exercise 1 in your Student's Book (page 104). 


2. USED TO and WOULD. Now, watch the following video which explains the rules about Used to and Would. 


Complete exercise 2 and 3 on the same page in your books (104).


3. MODALS OF ABILITY. Watch the video below so as to revise the Modals of ability and their uses. 


Now, you can complete exercises 4 and 5 on page 104.
