UNIT 5 Lesson D (5d) – Fame (Fama)

In this online class we are going to learn vocabulary related with famous people and the verb COULD and ADVERBS OF MANNER in grammar section.

VOCABULARY
dancer: bailarin/a
writer: escritor/a
scientist: científico/a
athlete: atleta
join: unir.
entrance exam: examen de ingreso.
successful: exitoso/a.
blind: ciego/a.
asthma: asma
took up: pasado de take up (comenzar algun hobby o clase)

Grammar:
Verb COULD:
Este verbo expresa el verbo CAN en pasado. Lo usamos para hablar de cosas que podía hacer en el pasado, habilidades que presentaba o no en un tiempo pasado.
Por ejemplo:
When I was a child  I could run very fast.
I couldn’t drive when I was a teenager.
I could stay up late when I was younger but now I can’t.

ADVERBS OF MANNER (Adverbios de modo)
Primero vamos a hablar de adjetivos. Estos modifican al sustantivo al adjudicarles una cualidad, por ello en inglés siempre se colocan antes del sustantivo
En cuando a los adverbios, modifican al verbo y expresan de qué manera se realiza una determinada acción. La mayoría de los adverbios se forman a partir de un adjetivo, agregando el sufijo –ly al final (salvo que se trate de un adjetivo irregular)
Por ejemplo:
This math exercises are very easy. I solved them easily.
Easy (fácil): adjetivo. Easily (fácilmente): adverbio.
She’s a good singer. She sings very well.
Good (buena): adjetivo irregular, cuando se usa como adverbio cambia a well (bien).
That athlete is fast. He runs fast
Fast (rápido): adjetivo irregular, cuando se usa como adverbio queda igual (fast: rápidamente)

Let’s practice!
Task 1:
Please, complete activities from 1 to 6 on pages 70 and 71 from the Student’s book.

I HOPE YOU’RE ALL HAVING A NICE DAY!

How do feel about singing today? Are you in the mood?
Let’s give it a try!

Here you will find two beautiful songs: “Yellow” by Coldplay and “Hotel California” by The Eagles. I’m sure you’re going to love them.

This is what you have to do: you're going to hear the songs and fill in the blanks with verbs in the past simple tense. I’m going to leave you some clues.
SING!

Yellow by Cold Play

 BEx5 – COME – WRITE - TAKE - SWIM – DRAWx2 - JUMP

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they ___________ all yellow.

I ___________  along,
I ___________  a song for you,
And all the things you do,
And it ___________  called “Yellow”.

So then I ___________  my turn,
Oh what a thing to have done,
And it ___________  all yellow.

Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into
Something beautiful,
Do you know,
You know I love you so,
You know I love you so.

I ___________  across,
I ___________  across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
‘Cause you ___________  all yellow,

I ___________  a line,
I ___________  a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
And it ___________ all yellow.

Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into
Something beautiful,
Do you know,
For you I’d bleed myself dry,
For you I’d bleed myself dry.

It’s true,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.

April 13th
GOOD MORNING GUYS!
How are you today? I hope you’re all fine and safe at home
UNIT 5
In this class we are going to remember what we learnt about the past simple of the verb BE.

Remember!: In this case we don’t use the auxiliary verb did. Be is an irregular verb.

Usamos There was / There were para expresar que había/habían una cosa o algunas cosas en el pasado.

In the following video you will find a useful explanation about this last topic.

Now let’s put all these into practice
First, we are going to talk about holidays activities. Do you remember some of them from Level 2? Let’s see

TASK 1:
Complete the activities 1), 2)A, 2)B, 2)C on page 49 from the Student’s book

TASK 2:
Do exercises 3) and 4) on page 50.

TASK 3:
Open your Workbook on page 49 and 50 and complete the activities that correspond to 5c.

That’s all class!
Next class I will send you the keys.
Have a nice day!
STAY AT HOME!
