Hi students! Hope you all had a nice weekend.
Today we will go back to page 26 of the students´ book. Remember the conversation you read?
💬 Let´s go to conversation 3 and focus on the beginning of the dialogue.
Paula: Have you got any brothers or sisters?
Olivia: Yes, I´ve got two brothers and two sisters.
Olivia is talking about her family, something she posses. And to express the idea of possession, she uses a verb that is not the verb "To Be", it´s the verb ↠ HAVE GOT
💬 When do we use the verb " HAVE GOT"?
➤ To express Possession. Ex: I HAVE GOT a house.
➤ To describe people, animals and objects. Ex: I HAVE GOT brown hair.
Now that you know when to use it, let´s see how to construct positive, negative and interrogative sentences.
As you can see the form of the verb depends on the subject of the sentence, so for:
I
YOU ( ⍆) HAVE GOT (-) HAVE NOT GOT (?) HAVE ....GOT?
WE
THEY Contraction: ´VE GOT - HAVEN´T GOT
SHE
HE ( ⍆) HAS GOT (-) HAS NOT GOT (?) HAS ....GOT?
IT
