English Level 4 Mr Acosta


Hello, hello students! How´s it going?

This is our next online class! So, let´s get going!

Turn to section 1D Good Role Models on page 12!

TASK 1
Discuss
What do ypu know about these celebrities?
Which on them are good role models?

Role model = someone you like and admire, whose behavour or personalitity you want to imitate.



TASK 2
Read  the text and find out why the 2 people are good role models.


Key Vocabulary
Rising (adj) = becoming more and more popular
Race (n) = competition
Train (v) = do exercise to compete for something
Fit (adj)= in good physical and mental condition
Bright (adj) = promising
Well-known (adj) = popular
Be/become aware of  (phr) = be/become conscious of
Face (v) = deal with, accept
Goodwill (n) = friendly and helpful feelings

Now work on these 2 exercises.


TASK 3
Think about:

Do you know any other famous people who are good role models for young people?
Why do you consider them good role models?

*We will have an open discussion about this in a face-to-face lesson when we get back to the classroom.

TASK 4
WORDS EASILY CONFUSED

Win something (e.g. a race, a championship, a game, a match, an award, a prize, etc).
Beat somebody (e.g. an opponent).

Train = to prepare yourself for a sport by doing a lot of exercise (e.g. F1 drivers need to train hard)
Perform = to entertain an audience by playing a piece of music, etc.

Popular = liked and admired by many people (e.g. the sport has become more popular, especially with young people.).
Famous = well-known.

Understand the meaning of something.
Realise the importance, seriousness, etc of something.

Now circle the correct words.


TASK 5
GRAMMAR: QUANTIFIERS

No = not any (always before nouns)
Examples: There´s no time for extra lessons = There isn´t any time for extra lessons.

                  I´ve got no money with me. = I haven´t got any money with me.

                 There are no tomatoes in the fridge = There aren´t any tomatoes in the fridge.

Now complete the table.


A little = un poco de, enough (always with UNCONTABLE noun)
Example: There´s a little milk in the jar, so let´s make a milkshake!

Little = poco, not enough (always with UNCOUTABLE noun)
Example: We´ve got little time for our homework. Next class we will finish it.
