This time we're going to revisit a very important topic; The Past Simple.
In order to do it, please watch the following video 👇
That was the explanation for the Past Simple. Now, let's practise a lttle bit.
👉 Don't use your list of irregular verbs unless you can't remember them. 👈
📌 Put the following verbs into the Past Simple form:
a. listen → listened
b write →
c. cook →
d. drink →
e. dance →
f. read →
g. study →
h. look →
i. leave →
j. take →
📌 Choose three of the previous verbs and write sentences in the affirmative, negative and interrogative form. When you finish, send me a photo of your job via Whatsapp. For example:
(+) Jack listened to the radio this morning.
(-) I dind't listen to you. Speak more loudly, please.
(?) Did she listen to her teacher?
Yes, she did. / No, she didn't.

Now, new topic!
We're going to study the structure "USED TO" (soler o acostumbrar).
"Used to" refers to past habits. Actions that happened in the past but don't happen in the present, not anymore. Look at this example:
I used to play tennis with my friends every Sunday. (Yo solía jugar al tenis con mis amigos cada Domingo). Es decir que en el presente, esto ya no sucede.
Ahora, qué pasa si quiero decir algo que NO SOLÍA PASAR (o sea, en negative form) o quiero PREGUNTAR. Bien, como estamos hablando del pasado, debemos usar didn't. Example:
I didn't use to play video games for too long. (Yo no solía jugar video juegos por mucho tiempo).
Did she use to walk the dog? (¿Ella solía pasear al perro?)
I used to play tennis with my friends every Sunday. (Yo solía jugar al tenis con mis amigos cada Domingo). Es decir que en el presente, esto ya no sucede.
Ahora, qué pasa si quiero decir algo que NO SOLÍA PASAR (o sea, en negative form) o quiero PREGUNTAR. Bien, como estamos hablando del pasado, debemos usar didn't. Example:

👆 What happened? Why did I say "use to" and not "used to"? 👆
Simple, because in the past when we express something in the negative and interrogative form, we use the auxiliary "didn't" or "did", and when this happens, the verb stays in the infinitive form.
didn't play ✅
didn't write ✅
didn't take ✅
didn't use ✅
👇 We don't say 👇
didn't played ❌
didn't wrote ❌
didn't took ❌
didn't used ❌
Si costó entender esto, acá les dejo otro video explicativo. CUIDADO, solo miren hasta el minuto 5:50.
Now that we have studied enough, we can start practising.
👉 Please, go to your student's book on page 9 and do exercise 3, 4A and 4B. I'll give you the answers next class.
